It’s a Wrap – But the Impact Endures

On 29 April 2025, AMBIANCE had the privilege of participating in the BIOMATTERS Cluster and Waste2BioComp joint event in Brussels — a full day dedicated to celebrating progress, sharing best practices, and strengthening the foundations of the bio-based and circular economy.

The gathering brought together an inspiring mix of EU policymakers, researchers, industry leaders, and project partners, all committed to sustainable innovation. The event served not only as a platform to highlight technical achievements but also as a testament to the value of coordinated action and strategic collaboration across projects.

Throughout the day, AMBIANCE and the BIOMATTERS cluster partners — BIO-UPTAKE, GREEN-LOOP, NEW WAVE, VITAL, W2BC, and Waste2BioComp — took the stage to present their objectives, milestones, and innovations. Each session reinforced a clear message: working in synergy enhances the visibility, coherence, and ultimate impact of our efforts.

From the keynote by Werner Bosmans (European Commission DG Environment) to the roundtable led by Simone Maccaferri (CBE JU), a recurring theme emerged — the future of the bioeconomy depends on integrated, multidisciplinary approaches that bridge policy, science, and industry.

While introducing to the audience the BIOMATTERS Cluster, AMBIANCE has focused on establishing strong communication and collaboration frameworks. These have proven critical not only for project alignment but also for conveying a unified and stronger message to stakeholders and society at large. Good practices in governance, shared methodologies, and consistent impact evaluation have amplified the reach and relevance of each project’s results.

The BIOMATTERS Corner, showcasing hands-on demonstrators, provided a tangible glimpse into how innovation is already shaping sustainable solutions across sectors such as textiles, packaging, footwear, and inks.

For AMBIANCE, this event marked a significant milestone — both in consolidating its role within the cluster and in affirming the importance of clusters as strategic instruments for real change. By working together, projects don’t just add value; they multiply it.
