A Training Day for a Sustainable Industry

Biopolymers and Ecodesign: A Training Day for Sustainable Industry

On October 9, 2025, the AMBIANCE project, in collaboration with CRIT, organised a full-day training titled “Designing a Sustainable Future: Biopolymers and Ecodesign in Industrial Practice.”
The event, held in person at the Laboratori Aperti in Modena, brought together more than 30 participants from diverse backgrounds- including companies, researchers, and students - all sharing a common goal: accelerating the transition toward a more sustainable and circular industry.

A Day Dedicated to Knowledge Sharing

The training was structured in two thematic modules led by experts from Proplast, a leading centre for applied research and innovation in materials:

  • Module 1 – Biopolymers, delivered by Marta Zaccone (Technology Transfer Project Manager – Cluster & Collaborative Research), provided an overview of bio-based and biodegradable polymers, exploring their properties, applications, and market outlook.

  • Module 2 – Ecodesign, presented by Maria Teresa Scrivani (R&D Project Manager – Materials Engineering Area), offered participants practical tools and methodologies for designing products with reduced environmental impact, supported by real-life examples and case studies.

Building Skills for the Green Transition

The AMBIANCE project recognises that training and capacity building are essential to foster innovation and help industries adopt sustainable practices.
Through initiatives like this one, AMBIANCE aims to bridge the gap between research and application, empowering stakeholders to make informed decisions about materials, processes, and product design.

The strong participation and positive feedback from attendees confirm the growing interest in sustainable innovation and the importance of creating opportunities for cross-sector learning.

“Engaging professionals and students in hands-on learning about biopolymers and ecodesign is key to driving real change,” said a CRIT representative. “These trainings strengthen the connection between technology development and industrial implementation.”

About AMBIANCE

AMBIANCE is a European project focused on advancing sustainable innovation and supporting industries in adopting new materials, technologies, and design approaches aligned with the principles of the green and circular economy.
